Network Technical Architect (Contract)

Network Technical Architect

Our client, a leading global supplier for IT services, requires Network Technical Architect to be based at their client's office in Luton, UK.

This is a hybrid role - you can work remotely in the UK and attend the Luton office 2-3 days per week .

This is a 6+ month temporary contract to start ASAP

Day rate: Competitive Market rate

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for preparing and maintaining technical architecture artefacts with understanding of network pain areas/Gap on IT WAN, LAN and Wi-Fi, Firewall, Load balancer AWS Cloud network services and platforms including AS-IS, TO-BE and transitional states for these network capabilities.
  • Ensure that the design meets the non-functional requirements of the Hosting Strategy, including (but not limited to) - Performance, Resilience, Scalability, Capacity Management, Disaster Recovery, Security, Maintainability, Supportability
  • Accountable to prepare or support with designing and documenting technical solutions that meet functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Assist in AWS cloud migrations and implementations ensuring designs conform to security standards and policies.
  • Co-ordinate overarching network sizing, capacity planning and forecasting on behalf of the client (working with internal and external teams)
  • Collaborating with enterprise architecture and peers to identify and agree the technical standards, frameworks, tooling, and patterns for technical solutions adhering to enterprise standards and best practice.
  • Supporting solution architects in the creation of end-to-end architecture.
  • Accountable for the related technical design and any amendments resulting from Technical Design Assurance.
  • Provide technical expertise, guidance and technical assurance to developers/engineers ensuring consistency and conformity to agreed standards.
  • Collaborate with key business stakeholders to identify existing or future exploitable opportunities to drive business value.
  • Actively contribute at all stages of the development life cycle ensuring technical architecture standards are considered.
  • Input and support the wider TA community in the review of designs at Local Design Authority and provide peer review feedback for designs that impact the network domain.
  • Work with fellow TAs to create and maintain and propose new technical standards/patterns, innovations, and solutions to improve the technology function.
  • Manage and maintain the core technology roadmaps for network with alignment to enterprise roadmaps and strategies including life cycles eg, Network Device Nodes, Operating System, network virtual instance types - and align with the delivery teams to ensure the ability to execute, maintain and manage these technologies.
  • Provide support to BAU team for expertise on troubleshooting Security Firewall - Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, and Tools Splunk, Good understanding of packet capturing tools.
  • Should have good and effective communication skills.
  • Responsible for design Artifact on Cloud Networking (AWS/Azure)
  • Responsible for supporting and optimizing a large scale, complex, high-performance network.

Key Requirements

  • Understanding of Routing and Switching technologies and protocols.
  • Cisco R/S Nexus architecture, BGP, OSPF, F5 LB&VPN, PALO ALTO, CISCO ASA, AWS Cloud Networking, SD-WAN, Kubernetes Networking, Zscaler, Python, Terraform, Akami-WAF & AWS Could networking, AWS Network Firewall
  • Hands knowledge on Python, Terraform and CI/CD pipeline using GitHub for resource deployment.
  • Tooling knowledge of confluence and Jira will be added advantage.
  • Experience on Cloud Networking (AWS).
  • Relevant certifications are advantageous.
  • The candidate must have excellent understanding of Routing and Switching technologies and protocols.
  • The candidate must have working experience with Cisco R/S Nexus architecture.
  • The candidate must have working experience with AWS Network Firewall.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex security issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at various levels.
  • Proactive mindset with a continuous learning approach to keep up-to-date with emerging technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic and challenging environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of security and compliance.
