Devops Engineer - SC required (Permanent)

Location: London Country: UK
 

The Role

As a DevOps Engineer, you will play the key role of a highly experienced DevOps specialist in order to manage day to day support, provide technical leadership and guidance, create a DevOps culture, and implement automation best practices. You will be responsible of Upholding client values and working within Government Digital Standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Work with a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the deployment, configuration, and management of multiple workspaces platform.

Provide a fundamental design and implementation function.

Create, manage, and oversee the design and implementation of Infrastructure services in collaboration with Architecture and Engineering principles.

Transform technical requirements into an effective DevOps toolchain enabling product delivery and implementing deployment strategies.

Your Profile

Key Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

Experience working with immutable infrastructure, version control, infrastructure as code, and containerisation tools such as git, terraform, ansible, and docker.

Hands on AWS cloud hosting (EC2, auto scaling groups and rules, security groups, IAM roles and policies, load balancing, target groups, CloudWatch and CloudTrail).

A good understanding of IPv4 and IPv6 networking with the ability to diagnose, define and implement DNS and routing changes effectively in a zero-trust architecture.

Experience with building and operating highly secure available solutions, demonstrated through effective chaos engineering (eg chaos toolkit).

Experience with enterprise system monitoring tools like Datadog, Dynatrace, or Splunk.

Extensive experience of working with Windows Server and PowerShell.

Experience with CI/CD tools.

Proven experience of working in a large-scale organisation and/or Government or Public Sector within dev ops area especially AWS utilising Ansible Automation Platform (please state worked examples).

Demonstrate extensive experience in a practical DevOps role, with examples of assignments and key outcomes.

Confirm Expert level AWS infrastructure build and operate experience, with examples of assignments and key outcomes.

Demonstrate experience of managing infrastructure as code, catering for multiple environment differences, using Ansible Automation Platform within a government organisation - share key objectives and goals reached.

Hands on delivering CI/CD pipelines - state involvement in design/build/maintenance with examples.

Demonstrate mentoring colleagues in automation, security, and reliability, within a DevOps context - explain a scenario and key outcome.

Good to have:

Experience with Azure cloud hosting, GitLab, ELK, Kibana or Dynatrace Jenkins, Gitlab CI, Puppet, Terraform, Packer, Python, Tenable, Vault.

Familiarity with the Government Service Standard.

Code and Security Analysis tolls like Blackduck, Check Marx, SonarQube.
