We are seeking a proactive and innovative User Experience (UX) Designer to join our dynamic public sector team. You will be working independently to deliver essential design activities and artifacts within strict deadlines. Your expertise will contribute to developing user-centered digital services and products that meet the needs of our diverse stakeholders.

As a User Experience Designer your responsibilities will include:

  • Create visual design mock-ups, sketches, and develop standards and guidelines.
  • Deliver comprehensive design assets, ensuring they meet project specifications and stakeholder expectations.
  • Map user experiences and develop wireframes, user journeys, and prototypes.
  • Produce prototypes at various levels of fidelity and interactivity, facilitating user engagement and feedback.
  • Review existing research to inform design strategies.
  • Plan and conduct primary research and user testing activities to gather insights and validate design decisions.
  • Provide expert guidance to stakeholders throughout project life cycles.
  • Assist in shaping project visions, providing narratives for proposed designs, and including stakeholders during testing and acceptance to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Offer design expertise and insights to product managers, ensuring that roadmaps are well-informed and that user needs and behaviors are adequately provisioned for during roadmap development and product change initiatives.
  • Advocate for user needs that may not be explicitly defined, such as behavioral traits.
  • Contribute to the maturity and knowledge management of the design team.
  • Ensure that design insights and learnings are effectively captured and shared within the team.
  • Demonstrate design advocacy the value of world-class design to stakeholders, including senior managers.
  • Use innovative methods such as Beta testing and prototyping to achieve advocacy and investment from key stakeholder groups.

As a User Experience Designer you will have the following experience:

  • Ideally educated to a bachelor's degree level or has equivalent knowledge gained from professional experience.
  • Strong understanding of the full, end-to-end service design process and how different activities and deliverables inform each other (eg, how research findings and strategy inform concept development and detailed design).
  • Proficiency in a wide range of human-centred research and design methodologies, with a clear understanding of their application in various contexts.
  • Solid knowledge of project delivery methods, particularly Agile methodologies.
  • Awareness of key business terminology and processes.
  • Knowledge of primary and secondary research approaches (eg, basic surveys and desk research).
  • Experience in delivering complex service design projects within multidisciplinary teams, demonstrating the ability to integrate various design and research activities effectively.

Proven experience in contributing to the growth of a design team by:

  • Sharing knowledge and expertise.
  • Defining and implementing shared methodologies.
  • Producing reusable tools.
  • Proactively supporting and mentoring colleagues.
  • Experience in delivering design work packages within a technology-focused organization (desirable).

Significant hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Visual Design
  • Interaction Design
  • Design Research
