Job Description:

The IBM Presales Solutions Architect primary role is work with the sales client executive to develop solutions from the customer's perspective. The ability to glean customer pain points, business objectives and requirements. Once the customer's business requirements are identified, then the work with our delivery teams to develop the delivery solution in response to specific business opportunities, develops technical skills, and manage the solution review the client.

This role also performs a variety of responsibilities including supporting system integration in a technology/industry specialty. This role requires experience in IBM datacenter architecture (ie Server, Storage, Networking) and Cloud architecture. This role demonstrates mastery of a broad set of information technology tools, methods and architectures, architecture expertise in multiple datacenter platforms, and an understanding of current or future technical offerings and architectures being driven by an industry.

  • Work with sales account teams to develop and close client opportunities and drive revenue
  • Take the lead in pre-sales discussions, discovering and defining customer requirements surrounding data center solutions and services
  • Guide customers on design scenarios; upgrade paths, product road maps, and industry best practices
  • Develop proposals that incorporate the designs that address clients' specific business needs.
  • Provide technical support and consultation to account executives using your data center expertise
  • Design virtual and physical solutions for customers based on these discussions/discoveries.
  • Responsible for solution design, business development and transition of projects from presales to delivery
  • Design solutions for customers and document the scope of projects
  • Align the business needs of customers and prospects to a technical solution and presenting the solution the customer in terms of business benefits
  • Assist account executives in presenting technology updates
  • The position will actively participate in post-sales activities such as customer network planning, customer training and continually updating customers on new service offerings and pricing.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher)
  • Minimum 10 years of IT architecture, systems engineering, and design experience
  • Previous experience creating quotes or Statements of Work (SOW's) with accuracy and in a timely manner.
  • Strong technical knowledge of capabilities or direct experience with enterprise solutions (HP, Lenovo, VMware, Microsoft, Brocade)
  • Experience with Cloud based solutions (ie Bluemix, AWS, and Azure)
  • Candidate must have excellent verbal communication and written skills to interface with customers at various management levels
  • Minimum 7 years developing IBM based solutions and estimating the costs of the solution and able to produce Basis of Estimates (Network, Storage, Server) - Integrating various systems, technologies, and platforms into complete solutions - Experience in incorporating infrastructure components into the overall solution - Experience guiding and facilitating executive level business decisions and performing business analysis in cooperation with clients
