Provide expert-level Infrastructure design and technical engineering for Application Hosting and Middleware Services. Work with technical, project, and stakeholder teams to ensure alignment of the architecture of IT applications with the underlying infrastructure to ensure optimal system availability and performance. Closely collaborate with the Enterprise Architecture team on the design and engineering of stated architectures.
Oversee, develop, and implement requirements for infrastructure projects and assist the Infrastructure Service Provider from an application perspective.
Coordinate and collaborate with Enterprise Architecture on Infrastructure roadmaps, standards, processes, and guidelines. Ensure integrity of infrastructure components in alignment with stated architectures.
Collaborate with Infrastructure Service Provider on the implementation of solutions for all infrastructure services.
Serve as the highest-level technical expert in one or more technical service areas, Platforms, Middleware, Database, Automation or Monitoring.
Provide technological leadership to facilitate a collaborate partnership Act as between Application Teams and Service Provider.
Lead the review and research of new technologies in response to project requirements and business needs.
Monitor and recognize constraints of specific infrastructure architectures and provide alternate scalable solutions in order to meet business and project requirements.
Recommend performance improvements to the Service Provider and Application Development teams from an application perspective.
Oversee and assist service provider with technology troubleshooting from an application perspective.
Manage and support Service Provider governance by collaborating on service level guidelines and key performance and critical metrics.
Mentor Application Development and Infrastructure team members and Service Provider staff to ensure functionality aligns with established technology methodologies, and practices; as well as service levels and performance metrics.
Lead and/or provide support for a variety of project related activities across multiple business units.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent in training and experience generally required. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training.
3+ years of experience in design, engineering and support of Java Middleware software like WebSphere or JBoss.
3+ years of experience with automation using tools like Puppet or Ansible.
5+ years of experience with Vormetric (symmetric encryption), Flux (job scheduler), DNS/Firewall request, F5 Load Balancers, Web Servers (IIS/Apache/variants) and Certificate troubleshooting.
Ability to rapidly learn new technologies and recommend those determined to be beneficial to the company.
Experience in development of technology requirements for execution by service provider is preferred.
Experience in development and implementation of technology roadmaps, standards and processes is desired.
Relevant technology certifications (Operating System certification and/or vendor technology certification) is a plus.
ITIL knowledge, certification and work experience in a process-oriented environment desired.
Prior experience working in an outsource service provider environment is a plus.
Demonstrated analytical capabilities, ability to effectively identify and resolve technology issues in diverse technology environments.
Demonstrated ability to decompose large complex systems into logical subsystems with well defined boundaries and integration points.
3 years of experience mentoring and leading other team members.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with a broad range of end-user configurations.
Strong communication skills (oral and written). Communicate effectively with end users, management, vendors and partners.
Ability to visualize ideas into diagrams, presentations and requirement documents.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Visio required.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
Provide leadership within the team and mentor teammates to increase overall team capabilities. Partner with manager and other business unit leaders to facilitate dynamic and effective group management.
