Job Description

NIC Partners Inc. is looking for an experienced Pre-Sales Engineer II to join our growing team! The Pre-Sales Engineer II performs various design and estimating tasks pertaining to Pre-Sales opportunities. The Pre-Sales Engineer II will leverage his/her prior experience and training to develop the technical aspects of the sales motion, including bills-of-materials, statements of work, and labor estimates.

The Pre-Sales Engineer II will assist with technical aspects of the Sales process, which may include participating in Customer meetings, gathering data from Customer networks, assisting with demonstrations, filling out templates for the estimating process, and working with Solutions Architects to develop technical solutions to Customer problems. The Pre-Sales Engineer II is expected to have prior experience designing and/or deploying network equipment, and will therefore be expected to ensure the accuracy of product and service estimates he/she builds.

  • Works with Solutions Architects and Pre-Sales Administrators to create bills-of-materials, statements of work, labor estimates, and customer-facing documentation.
  • Works on opportunities without assistance from other team members, such as requests for fulfillment estimates or responses to RFPs
  • Accompanies Solutions Architects to meetings with customers, and works with Solutions Architects to determine the correct products and services that meet the Customers' needs
  • Performs product or service demonstrations in person or via video conference.
  • Performs configuration and setup of demo equipment, as required
  • Assists with data gathering tasks, including the use of software tools to gather data for network assessments.
  • Assists with completing network assessment reports, as required
  • Creates internal and/or customer-facing documentation associated with the estimating process
  • Creates network drawings using Microsoft Visio or similar software
  • Participates in training exercises as assigned by the Pre-Sales Manager
  • Stays abreast of advances in technology, integration methodology, and industry specific requirements in verticals with which NIC Partners does business
  • Improves product knowledge and skill sets by shadowing Network Engineers on deployments


  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, System Analysis or related field from four-year college or university
  • 4+ years of progressive related experience
  • Equivalent combination of education/job experience
  • Experience in K-12, higher education, and/or healthcare markets
  • Experience with designing, deploying, or managing a broad spectrum of network technologies including at least three of the following product sets: routing, switching, wireless, voice-over-IP, network security, physical security, and/or datacenter
  • CCDP or CCNP certification desired
