Overview

This position is responsible for the data operations of the LG&E/KU Advanced Metering Infrastructure ("AMI"). Managing the information flows of approximately 900,000 electric meters and 400,000 gas modules and associated RF mesh and/or cellular network communications infrastructure in the LG&E and KU service territories. This network communicates consumption and engineering data to utility systems and enables customers to view their individual electricity consumption via a website. This position within the LG&E and KU Meter Operations Center ("MOC") will provide operational analytics services and support the MOC. Responsibilities will include maintaining meter to billing operations, answering operational analytics questions, and fulfilling requests for dashboards and reports to assure efficient and effective operations. Work is conducted in the office, meter shops and warehouses.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the management of the day-to-day meter operations of the AMI and/or AMI interconnected systems.

  • Oversees the flow of information to and from the Meter Data Management System with other related enterprise systems (ie, Customer Care System, Meter Asset Management System, and multiple Advanced Meter Head End Systems).

  • Ensures the data across these various systems is in sync and investigates and resolves any exceptions. Works with various internal business groups (eg, billing, customer service, distribution operations, IT, etc.) to address critical issues and resolve major problems.

  • Prepares and delivers reports and informational presentations for management and business associates.

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively and handle multiple assignments concurrently.

  • Using established procedures and working under immediate supervision, performs assigned tasks.

  • Work is routine and instructions are usually detailed. Little evaluation, originality or ingenuity is required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Data Science, Accounting, or applicable field Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Office, etc.)

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline is preferred. Knowledge of electric meters and metering data collection or translation systems. Ability to absorb information, apply conceptual skills in practical applications, and achieve desired results in a highly technical, operating environment. Possesses the ability to effectively deal with the rapid technological and business change while maintaining enthusiasm and displaying sound judgment and common sense. Possess a high level of customer sensitivity and ability to manage high levels of stress, ambiguity, and uncertainty.

WORK CONDITIONS

Position requires working in an office environment. Routine travel throughout the LG&E/KU service area with occasional overnight assignments required.

Primarily walking, sitting, or standing associated with successful completion of responsibilities.
