Platform Engineer - SC Cleared

3 month contract with a view to extend for an additional 12 months

Onsite working with 1-day WFH - Various sites available across Warwick, Farnborough and Corsham

£500 - £545 inside IR35

My client is looking for an experienced Platform/DevOps Engineer with expertise in low-level design comprehension, build script creation, implementation, and thorough testing and validation of on-premises VMware infrastructure to join a high-profile SC Cleared project on a contract basis.

The successful candidate will collaborate with architects and clients to establish and implement best practices for delivering Windows and Red Hat Linux virtual machines as code.

This role involves using infrastructure as code automation tools including Terraform, Ansible, and PowerShell DSC.

Key Responsibilities:

• Understand and interpret low-level design documents.
• Develop and implement build scripts.
• Conduct comprehensive testing and validation of VMware infrastructure.
• Automate infrastructure deployment using Terraform, Ansible, and PowerShell DSC.
• Collaborate with architects and clients to define and promote best practices.
• Explore and potentially integrate other virtual infrastructure and network devices.

Required Skills:

• Proficient in writing, deploying, and troubleshooting Terraform configuration and Ansible Playbooks/YAML files.
• Experienced in writing, deploying, and troubleshooting PowerShell DSC MOFs and PowerShell scripts.
• Strong understanding of VMware platform integration.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git.
• Knowledge and some proficiency with additional configuration management tools such as Chef, Puppet, or SaltStack.
