Full Stack Python React Engineer - Banking (Permanent)

Location: City of London, Greater London, England Country: UK Rate: £75k - 85k per year
 

Fullstack Python/React Engineer - Flask, Microservices, API, Hadoop, aSync, Style Sheets, Trade Surveillance, Investment Banking

A Fullstack Engineer, strong in both Python and React, is currently being sought after by a Tier 1 Investment Bank, to join their Regulatory Technology function, specifically in a team building out a business-critical Trade Surveillance platform. The platform is underpinned by a Hadoop-based big data ecosystem and is used directly by both the Front and Back Office to monitor trades and check for any anomalous/fraudulent activity.
The core of the application is built with Python microservices and a Real Time React Front End, with a focus on scalability, availability and resilience to ensure 24/7 monitoring/detection capabilities.

As a Senior Engineer in the team, your role will be split across fullstack coding, direct contribution to the architecture and design of the platform, as well as helping to drive an Agile culture, with a strong focus on TDD and CI/CD.
As the team continue to build out and enhance this platform, you will also have the exciting opportunity to be directly involved in their cloud migration to GCP.

To be successful in this role, you must have the following:
- Strong hands-on coding experience in Enterprise/Core Python and come from an OOP engineering background
- Fullstack development experience, preferably having built React frontends.
- Involved in design/architecture, with good fundamental understanding around up/downstream integration
- Prior experience working on a cloud migration project is beneficial, with GCP being the preferred cloud technology
- Good understanding of big data or steaming technologies, such as Hadoop or Kafka
- A background in financial services (Investment Banking, Investment Management, Fintech)
