Senior Network Engineer, Contract inside IR35, £570 per day, 6 months initial contract, Central London (1-2 days per week on site)

Network Engineer contract role for a large organisation in London who are moving to the cloud, and need a contractor to bolster the team. The role would be designing, implementing, and managing Network-based solutions while ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of the network.

Key responsibilities include designing and implementing scalable, high-performance, secure, and cost-effective cloud networking architectures. This involves configuring and managing virtual networks, subnets, routing tables, gateways, and other cloud networking components. Additionally, the role requires the implementation of network security measures such as Firewalls, access control lists (ACLs), and virtual private networks (VPNs) to protect cloud resources. Monitoring network performance, analysing traffic patterns, and optimising configurations to ensure high availability and low latency for cloud-based applications are also critical tasks. Troubleshooting network connectivity issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime and disruptions are essential.

Experience required is to understand networking architectures and strong network engineer skills, in technologies such as: Meraki (SD WAN and Wireless), Cisco ACI, Palo Alto, VPNs, Cisco Switches etc. A deep understanding of networking principles, protocols, and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, and routing protocols like BGP and OSPF, is required. Experience with cloud platforms, software-defined networking (SDN), network virtualization technologies, and network configuration and management tools such as Cisco ACI, Cisco Meraki, and Palo Alto is important. You will likely have some networking certifications in: CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, and AWS Certified Advanced Networking.
