Senior Wintel Engineer - Inside IR35 - 3 days a week on site - 2 WFH

To build, manage, maintain and support the migration of customers test and production systems on Windows, RHEL and VMware platforms.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

o Experience of large scale VMware migrations running mission critical customer applications.
o Assemble and commission physical Servers, blades and blade chassis technologies, plus supporting hardware when required.
o Experience of large Data Centre installations and practices.
o Systems Administration of Windows and VMware.
o Design, planning, configuration, support, testing and documentation of new and existing Windows and VMware systems. o Design, planning, configuration, support, testing and documentation of backup, archive and restore using tools such as Veritas Backup Exec
o Design, planning, configuration, support, testing and documentation of SAN systems, disk layout and configurations.
o Disaster recovery and Business Continuity design, planning and testing.
o Analyse and troubleshoot production faults and determine the most effective course as a subject matter expert in an expedited manner.
o Implementing server hardening standards as advised by Information Security team.
o Maintain register of IT assets.
o In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by their manager from time-to-time, as may be reasonably required of them.

Skills knowledge and experience:

Essential relevant and recent experience at an appropriate level in - Windows and VMware Systems Administration

Ideally relevant and recent experience at an appropriate level in:

o HPe Blade chassis and Servers
o Windows 2016 - 2022 operating systems
o VMware 7/8, Virtual centre and SRM
o Anti-virus - McAfee

Other:
o SAN Storage - pref EMC PowerMax/Unity
o Fibre channel networks/zoning - Cisco MDS
o Backup Systems - EMC Data Domain/Backup Exec
o VMware replication
o PCI-DSS Environments

Education and qualifications
Essential:
o Degree in IT/Computing, Computer Science, or equivalent education/experience

Desirable:
o Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer
o VMWare VCP
o ITIL certification
